What is blue crab?

Blue crab or lotus crab (scientific name: Scylla paramamosain) is a species of sea crab, commonly used as food in Taiwan and Vietnam.

This crab species was originally found in the Mekong River estuary, but is now raised on aquaculture farms in southern Vietnam.

Green crabs are also commonly found in river areas such as Ca Mau, Vung Tau. with small sizes of about 10-15 cm (adult crabs). As for baby crabs, they are very small, only a few millimeters.

Green crab is a valuable food in Vietnam, bringing many benefits to Vietnam such as helping to balance the ecosystem, making food, and importing and exporting. The crab's "prey" is usually small creatures in the water or small crustaceans such as shrimp, fish. Although green crab is quite small, its claws are very large and strong, able to clamp hard-shelled species such as shrimp.
