Complete remote sensing system to monitor Hoang Sa and Truong Sa
The National Remote Sensing Department has just completed the island surveillance system, promising to allow detailed tracking of the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
Remote sensing systems monitored by Hoang Sa and Truong Sa have been completed
The project "Monitoring marine and island resources by remote sensing technology" was completed last year, allowing Vietnam for the first time to draw a comprehensive picture of the national sea area including the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong. Sa, are areas that do not often come out to take place to measure.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Lam, Director of the National Remote Sensing Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said that the project has completed 3 important task groups . It is to build a database of multi-time geographic information for the entire sea and islands by remote sensing technology, to build a specialized database on marine and island resources and environment with telecom technology. detecting and building a multi-time surveillance system for marine and island resources in Vietnam on the basis of remote sensing technology and geoinformatics.
According to Mr. Lam, the project's goal is to establish a multi-time satellite geographic information database for the entire Vietnamese sea and islands, especially the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes . The project also aims to strengthen the capacity for the application of remote sensing technology for basic investigation and monitoring of marine and island resources and environment in Vietnam. Remote sensing technology has superior advantages compared to other communication methods on the ability to provide information on a wide, continuous, accurate and at the same time can provide both spatial and attribute information of object of observation.
'The application of remote sensing technology in the investigation and monitoring of marine resources and environment is completely feasible and scientific. There cannot be an extensive source of information on a large scale, able to update periodically and contain a lot of good maritime area information like sources from remote sensing images , " said Lam.
Director Lam also noted that in order to operate the marine and island resources and environment monitoring system, updating information and satellite image data of all types is necessary to serve the requirement of providing information to bring current affairs and resolving state management issues, as well as ensuring national security.

Therefore, leaders of the National Remote Sensing Department propose to the Government to allow the organization, management and operation of the multi-time monitoring system of marine and island resources in Vietnam to promote the role of technology Remote sensing in the annual update of the basic information on marine resources and environment, continue to build tasks and projects in the next stage.
This is a component project under the overall scheme on basic surveys and management of marine environmental resources up to 2010, with a vision to 2020 chaired by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
