Conservative people often live long

The more devoted you are to your work and the people around you, the higher your chances of living a long time, an American scientist asserts.

Psychology professor Howard S. Friedman of the University of California (USA) analyzed data of 20 studies on the relationship between life expectancy and human character. These works collect data for more than 8,900 people in the US, Canada, Germany, Norway, Japan and Sweden.

' The most noticeable point in studies is: an individual's level of commitment to others and work is quite important for long-term survival. Most individuals who are highly appreciated by the community will have a life expectancy higher than the average of society , "Howard said.

According to Howard, dedicated people often own at least some of the following traits: organized, trustworthy, thoughtful, consciously comply with discipline, yearning for success, respecting order social, responsible, prudent .

A few years ago, Howard also conducted a study on the relationship between teenage lifestyles and aging life. He analyzed data from a social survey in 1922. In this survey, parents and teachers were asked to comment on the moral qualities of thousands of students and then save them to one. list.

Over 80 years later, Howard proceeds to search for survivors in the list. He found that most survivors belong to the group of 'devoted to work and others'. Very few of them are addicted to alcohol, cigarettes and harmful things to the body. Those who are considered " extremely devoted " have an average life expectancy of 2 years greater than those of "moderate".

Howard analyzed the data of 20 studies in three criteria: responsibility (for society, for himself, for work), ability to manage himself (discipline, performance in operation, organizational capabilities) and achievements (consistency, hard work, degree of desire for success). They find that their ability to manage themselves and achievements has a greater role in life expectancy.

' There is much evidence that an individual tends to be devoted if he has a stable job and a happy marriage. Although devotion is something that cannot be changed in a short time, we can change it in the long term , "Howard said.

In the late 1990s, many scientists proved that personality plays an important role in health. However, they only focused on the relationship between personality and disease, not paying attention to the impact of personality on life expectancy. Howard said that in the future, doctors need to consider personality information as an important data in the diagnosis and treatment process for patients.
