Cows drink wine
French farmers feed cows to two bottles of fine red wine every day to create the best European beef.
'Vinbovin' is a trademark of a beef that the most prestigious restaurants in Paris are very popular with. It was the product of an experiment from last year in Lunel-Viel commune, Herault region in southern France. In the experiment, farmers gave red wine to cows for 4 months.
Giving cows to wine daily is a way to increase meat quality.
Jean-Charles Tastavy, who came up with the idea for cows to drink beer, said the idea came when he fed a herd of cows a mixture of barley, dry grass and grapes. When slaughtering cows, he found their meat very delicious.
"The amount of red wine is reasonable for every cow is one to one and a half liters per day ," Tastavy said.
Currently, Tastavy daily feeds cows with grape and water before drinking fine red wine.
'The cows were interested in enjoying the red wine , ' said Claude Chaballier, a farmer who participated in the experiment.
Laurent Pourcel, a famous chef in France, is one of those who love 'Vinbovin' beef.
'It has a very special grain - beautiful, soft and has a marble-like texture. The meat turns light brown during cooking. All the most famous restaurants in Paris like it , 'Pourcel said.
