Taste Buddy consists of a 2cm long card attached to the processing unit. After placing the card on the tip of the tongue, it can stimulate the taste buds and alter the taste by heat and electrical signals.
"From the early technical experiments, it now creates a product that has the potential to have a lot of positive social impact." Taste Buddy can support people's lives by helping them move to the next level. It's good for health, " said Adrian Cheok, a professor at City University in London who is in charge of the project.
At present, the device can only stimulate sweet and salty . The research team hopes to adjust it in time to capture all the flavors. They even predict in the future, Taste Buddy can make a piece of tofu tastes like beef.
The big project of Cheok and his colleagues is in the beginning. They estimate that the technology will be widespread in the next 20 years and can be fitted into everyday devices such as cutlery, glasses and canners.
