Construction workers in the city of Dawson a few days ago discovered a safe buried deep underground while installing a drainage system. While the outer shell of the safe was peeled, the interior seemed to remain intact with cracks in the door.
The safe will be opened on August 18 here.(Photo: BBC).
"We hope to have a lot of gold bars inside , " said City Public Works CEOs.
Archaeologist Yukon Ty Heffner meanwhile hopes to find important papers inside the safe instead of valuable furniture. He also notes that it is because of not grasping what is inside, so it stimulates everyone's imagination.
Some believe that the safe can be contained inside a treasure chest full of gold and jewelry, while many are inclined to the possibility of a will, weapon or ammunition.
It is expected that this safe will be opened on August 18, right on the 122th anniversary of the first day of gold near the Klondike River area. The shocking event of 1896 then sparked a gold rush in Dawson when 30,000 people flocked here to hunt for gold three years later.
