Lead researcher Alexandria - Koerner, working at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, said: 'We found that fragments that were not part of the fossil were previously known to the lives of it's on this continent, which shows the diversity of the dragon-headed snake species in the South Pole . ' The newly discovered dragonhead fossil has a length of 6 to 7 meters.

However, these fossilized bone fragments cannot determine which species of snakehead they belong to. This fossil was discovered during the collection of fossils and lava in 2006 and 2007 at the Antarctic Ross Island.

Other fossils collected are currently stored in the National Museum, mainly animal and fossil plant backbones including a piece of the tree at the same time as the dragon's solid fossil, the wood pieces show. lush growth at that time in the Antarctic forests.
