Going to a dermatologist regularly is always a smart habit. Dermatologists may point to skin health problems that you don't notice.

The white eyes turn yellow

When the whites of the eyes turn yellow, it may be caused by jaundice, signs of liver problems, dermatologists Soheil Simzar said.

Puffiness and dark circles

High-sodium foods and a high-salt diet increase the body's ability to hold water, including the area under the eyes, said Dr. Roshini Raj. Chronic allergies can also appear on sensitive skin under the eyes, they dilate blood vessels, cause blood leakage, create puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.

The thighs or gums turn blue

If some parts of the skin such as your legs or gums turn green, you may be reacting to a drug, according to Dr. Simzar. The skin becomes bluish gray, indicating that you are digesting the lead-containing product for a long time.

Skin hyperpigmentation and discoloration

Sunlight is not the only cause of hyperpigmentation. When your skin has a lot of grayish brown spots on your skin, especially around your neck, armpits, and groin, it may be an early sign of diabetes, Dr Raj explained.

Dr. Kim Laudati said gray skin may be due to a number of reasons such as not getting enough oxygen from the body - a sign of emphysema. It may also warn an imminent heart attack. Other problems include tuberculosis, pneumonia and some cancers. Dry skin or dry nails

If your skin becomes dry, your hair and nails are brittle, easy to break, you may be having thyroid problems, Simzar said. Healthy skin is always smooth, not rash, swollen or flaky. Dry skin may be due to a lack of vitamin A, essential fatty acids such as omega-3, or zinc, Dr. Tori Holthaus said.

Sun-sensitive skin

Skin that is particularly sensitive to the sun may be a sign of scarlet lupus, dermatologist Dina D. Strachan, said.

Itchy, blistering rash

This symptom is a sign of herpes dermatitis when your digestive system is sensitive to gluten, according to Dr Raj. Lesions appear anywhere, but occur most often around the knees, elbows, scalp, back and buttocks, starting with a burning sensation. Clinical manifestations are dilated, difficult to burst blisters.

Skin turns orange

If the skin turns orange, you may have eaten too many carrots or carotene-rich vegetables, Simzar said.

Leather turns bronze

When the skin turns bronze, not because of sunbathing, it may be the expression of a genetic disorder called excess iron in the body, Simzar said.

Thick face hair

Unwanted hairs and whiskers in women mainly along the lower jaw line, chin and upper lip are manifestations of polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal imbalance, in which the level of male hormones higher than normal, according to Raj.

Lip chapped is a physical manifestation of deficiency of B vitamins such as niacin, riboflavin and vitamin B6. Supplementing niacin from tuna, riboflavin from spinach and B6 from green beans, Holthaus advised.
