Discover 19 mysterious ancient statues in the clay city

Archaeologists have discovered 19 mysterious wooden statues in the ancient city of Chan Chan, Peru.

Page CNN reported, 19 wooden statues with mysterious shapes, at least 750 years old. Each statue is less than 1 meter tall, made of wood, attached with a clay mask, holding a staff in his hand and a circular object is said to be a shield.

These statues are found in a hallway about 30 meters long, believed to lead to an area of ​​ancient rituals. Peru's Ministry of Culture says these are statues that may appear from pre-Columbian civilization (the period before the Europeans discovered America).

At present, archaeologists continue to explore the true meaning of these 19 mysterious wooden statues in Chan Chan's ancient history related to ancient rituals.

It is known that Chan Chan Ancient City belongs to La Libertad region of Peru, near the Pacific coast, located about 570 km north of the capital Lima. This is the largest clay city in the world.

Chan Chan is also known as the capital of Chimu civilization. The city was built in 850 and conquered by the Inca Empire in 1470. The ancient Chan Chan clay citadel was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage in 1986.

Chimu civilization, with Chan Chan, used to have about 60,000 people living, the most brilliant development in the period from the 12th century to the 15th century, including many clay works.
