National Geographic said that William White - a scientist from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization in Australia - and a colleague went to the Tashi fish market on the island of Taiwan to see if there were any new fish. or not.

Among a few sharks that are on sale at Tashi market, they found some sharks belonging to a species that fish experts never knew. They named this shark Squalus formosus . With a body length of about one meter, they had a short, round head and a fin that stood upright on their backs. S. formosus lives in the deep sea floor.

Like many other sharks, it is possible that S. formosus is captured by fishermen (deliberately or accidentally) and taken to the market."I don't think sellers and consumers perceive the difference in smell, taste or some element between S. formosus and other sharks," White said.

According to White, it is possible that S. formosus sharks live only in waters around Taiwan and Japan, meaning their range of movement is narrow. Like sharks that live in deep water, they reproduce slowly so it is easy to fall into scarcity or extinction by overfishing.

'So I hope people don't eat those sharks,' he said.
