The US Aerospace Agency (NASA) yesterday discovered the largest black spot ever seen on the sun, even bigger than the earth.

According to Space , this giant sunspot is called AR1339 , about 80,000km long, 40,000km wide, 3 times larger than the earth (the earth's diameter is 12,800km).

This sunspot is wider than the earth.

The black stain provided by the solar activity observatory (SDO) shows that this giant black spot is not on the direction of the earth and is located in the sun's strong active area.

This phenomenon occurs when magnetism on the sun works with high intensity, preventing convection flow, causing the temperature in the surface areas of the sun to be lower than in other regions. These areas will be isolated, then appear dimmer than the surrounding area and create a black spot.

Strong activity around the black spot can cause sun fire. This phenomenon also triggered flares, firing charged particles into space, known as the diurnal phenomenon, which could destroy the earth's satellites and grids.

According to experts monitoring solar energy, giant sunspot like AR1339 can create solar storms. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) also predicts 50% of the possibility of an intermediate level flare from the sun's black spot today.

On November 2, SDO also recorded a mid-level solar flare, but not toward the earth.

The cycle of black spot appearance is about 11 years. Although scientists have observed and documented scientific sunspots for over 400 years, the origins of these strong, cool and dark magnetic regions on the surface of the sun are still pumpkins. Great hiding.
