Discover unique waterfalls throughout Egypt

Wadi El-Rayan Valley has two giant man-made lakes, dug to regulate irrigation water from the island of Fayoum. This is also the place where the only waterfall of Egypt.

Earlier, water from the Fayoum oasis flowed into Quarun Lake in the north.However, the lake only contains a certain amount of water.Beyond this level, the lake level will rise, flooding the surrounding areas and damaging the hard to recover due to the high salt content of the water.(Photo: Alrahalah).

In 1974, a 9 km long ditch and an 8 km tunnel passed through the desert from the west of Fayoum valley to the dry area of ​​Wadi El Rayan.Water flowing into Wadi El Rayan creates two large lakes.First, the water flows to the northern lake, then flows out and flows to the deeper area of ​​the low-lying area, forming the second lake.
