Discovered a new worm frog in Vietnam

Scientists in Japan and Russia have discovered and published a new worm frog in the Central Highlands on Japan's Current Herpetology Magazine, No. 31, 2012.

This is also the second worm worm species recorded in Vietnam after another species of worm worm was recorded in the North.

The new worm frog with scientific name is the worm frog Nguyen Ichthyophis nguyenorum Nishikawa, Matsui & Orlov 2012 , named after the two researchers of Vietnamese reptile and frogs, Nguyen Quang Truong (Institute of Ecology and Resources). protoplasm) and Nguyen Thien Tao (Vietnam Nature Museum), who have made many contributions to the discovery of many new species in Vietnam.

Scientists have discovered the new worm frog during the field trip in the Central Highlands of Vietnam in 2006. The new worm frog distinguishes it from other striped worm frogs because of its low total number of longitudinal stings. more, yellow stripes along the body continuously and the body is stout.

According to Dr. Nguyen Quang Truong, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology), worm species in general are quite rare. They have life under the carpet of leaves, the niches so it is not easy to meet them. Worm frogs have been included in the Vietnam Red Book to protect this strange amphibian in nature.
