Discovered the gladiator in the UK
Archaeologists have unearthed the grave of a British
Archaeologists have unearthed the grave of a British 'big' and 'muscular' gladiator, living in Roman occupation.
The woman was buried in a luxurious wooden coffin, with metal rings like copper wrapped around. The tomb was discovered in Credenhill, Herefordshire near the British Air Force Command.
Robin Jackson, project manager commented: 'The first time we looked at the legs and bones, the muscle bundles, everything showed that this is the body of an extremely burly person. After that, observing the pelvis and head are also genetic indicators, we affirm that it is a woman. We predict, the woman may be a female warrior '.
The area of the body of a female gladiator excavator with the coffin was completely decomposed.
The wooden coffin was completely left with no trace. The proofs of its existence are the surrounding nails, large hinges and silver strips in the corner. According to Robin, these strips are used to reinforce the coffin, or simply to decorate.
Robin commented: 'This is a luxurious coffin with expensive wood. While, the person in the coffin seems to have a difficult life. So the tomb is very strange. '
Underneath the tomb are many ceramic vases and beef. Another unusual thing is the location of the grave. It belongs to the suburbs, instead of in the cemetery on the edge of the territories during the reign of the Roman Empire.

Archaeologists' findings are the result of a regional excavation of the Yazor Brook Flood Protection Project to protect Hereford's population and economy. Through historical analysis, researchers believe that female warriors lived around the 2nd to 3rd century AD.
The excavation area also houses many well-preserved Roman buildings, yard and garbage pit.
