Discovered the Northeastern three-headed bat species

The new bat species has been discovered in the area with limestone mountains in the Northeast, with the Vietnamese name is the Northeastern three-headed bat.

Compare two bat species: A - A. stoliczkanus complex and B - A. sp.n. dongbacana.

The new species has the scientific name Aselliscus dongbacana Tu, Csorba, Gorfol, Arai, Son, Thanh & Hassanin, 2015. The Vietnamese name is Northeastern Bats , which is based on species distribution.

Standard samples of A. dongbacana collected at Na Phong Cave, Ba Be National Park, Bac Kan Province. In addition, samples belonging to new bat species were also collected in Kim Hy Nature Reserve (Bac Kan), Khau Ca (Ha Giang), Huu Lien (Lang Son) and Phia Oac-Phia Den (Cao Bang).

Northeastern bighead bat has a limited distribution in the limestone mountains in the Northeast. This is also an ideal place for many species of Vietnam. However, most of these limestone areas have been degraded, mainly due to human activities. As a result, not only the Northeastern three-headed bat species, but most of the flora and fauna here are increasingly threatened with extinction.

The above study is the result of cooperation between the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (Vietnam Academy of Technology and Technology) and colleagues from the Hungarian Natural History Museum, the National Research Institute for Infection Diseases. infected (Japan), Hanoi University of Natural Sciences and National Museum of Natural History (France).
