In the world of cat and dog owners, there seems to be an endless debate about their loyal dogs or cats.

In fact, there has been a study showing that dogs release a lot of oxytocin "love hormones" when they are near humans, showing that they love humans very much. However, there has never been a similar study done on cats, so it is basically incomparable.

Recently, however, a neurologist has solved the concerns of cat and dog lovers. That's Dr. Paul Zak, Ted Talk's famous expert. He checked the amount of oxytocin of both dogs and cats when playing with their owners.

More specifically, Zak samples saliva from 10 dogs and 10 cats at 2 times: 10 minutes before playing with the owner, and right after playing with. As a result, the amount of hormones in dogs increases by more than 57%, while for cats only 12%. And this means that theoretically, dogs love humans more than cats.

" I'm really surprised that dogs produce such a high amount of oxytocin . 57.2% are very reactive. It shows that dogs really care about their owners. " - Zak said.

" But it's nice to see cats also produce oxytocin, which means they love the owners on some angles, just not as much as dogs ."

However, Zak thinks cats are better able to survive than dogs. Even more than 2000 fossil evidence proves that cats are the cause of at least 40 breeds of dogs to become extinct because of competition for food.

This proves that cats live more independently, and this may be the reason why they don't have too much affection for their owners like dogs.
