Dolphins kill themselves because of losing children

Japanese fishermen have completed the killing of 250 spearhead dolphins, which are cornered in a bay in Taiji for meat. Environmental activists say this is the biggest raid they've seen in the past four years.

Sea Shepherd, the whale hunting organization, said fishermen chose 52 dolphins to sell to water parks and some customers, among them a rare albino dolphins. The mother of this baby dolphin is said to have committed suicide after the child was 'pulled off his hand' .

In some cases, many of them repeatedly bang their heads on the glass of the aquarium or simply stop breathing. Writing on his website, Sea Shepherd said: 'Our volunteers witnessed the sadness of the mother dolphin, searching for the child before deepening and never emerging'.

Former dolphin coach Ric O'Barry, who is also the founder of the Dolphin Project, said: 'Maybe people don't believe me but dolphins actually acted like that. Nothing is as painful as a dolphin being taken away . ' That's because dolphins are smart animals and have a close family relationship. Fishermen said they hid the baby dolphin under a canvas and transferred it to the Taiji Whale Museum. Assistant Director Tetsuo Kirihata pledged 'to take good care of baby dolphins'.

Environmental activists have watched activities in the southwestern bay of Japan. This place is the focal point of the annual dolphin hunting activity of the Taiji community. In the West, the hunting of dolphins is widely condemned, but Japan defends this action in accordance with the law and believes that killing dolphin is no different from killing other animals.
