Drugs help people forget

Do you have painful memories that you never want to remember? A new drug being developed can help you erase bad memories in the brain.

Researchers at Harvard University and McGill in Montreal, Canada, are researching a drug that blocks or removes bad memories. Techniques to break the chemical process in which people recall memories.

Picture 1 of Drugs help people forget The group combined the new drug with psychotherapy to bury memories of raped victims. Within 10 days, patients described their traumatic event that happened 10 years ago. Some patients received medication, others received placebo.

A week later, the team found that those who received the drug had fewer signs of stress when recalling the concussion.

Professor Joseph LeDoux at the University of New York, USA, also conducted a similar study to remove a specific memory in the rat brain without damaging the rest of the memory. This forgetting medicine is also being tested.

Sci-fi scientist Philip K. Dick is one of the first to take advantage of this idea. In the short story of 1966 entitled We Can Remember It For You Wholesale , he wrote about the deletion of memories. A government military laboratory worker erased his memories, all he knew was that having Mars had a special meaning to him, and then becoming a spy.
