While an unprecedented storm was taking place, the sky in Dubai (UAE) suddenly turned green and the air seemed to have a layer of dust . This image scared many people, thinking it looked like something out of movies about natural disasters. So how is this phenomenon explained?
Dubai (UAE) has had a 'historic weather event' over the past few days with the heaviest rain in 75 years , according to the UAE's weather agency. Heavy rain causes flooding, severely affecting road traffic and flights, stopping many daily activities.
Among the images of unprecedented flooding in Dubai - a city called 'picture-perfect' and a place with hot and dry desert-like weather, a few videos were shared very quickly. Record the scene where the sky here turns green in the middle of a rainstorm.

Many netizens were shocked by this scene, thinking that the sky had such a strange color that it looked scary, wondering if it was due to some strange substances in the air or not. Some people say it's a phenomenon that happens before a storm.
According to Fox News , this is not due to pollution or chemicals, but this sky discoloration phenomenon is due to light diffusion. Specifically, 'water/ice particles in storm clouds with a certain amount of water will essentially glow blue. When red light in the atmosphere shines on water/ice droplets in the clouds, the clouds will look as if they are emitting green light.'

Meteorologist Scott Bachmeier said that green clouds are often the type that cause storms or hail, but are not necessarily proof of a storm .
