That is the result of the study by Dr. Thomas Rix and colleagues at Aalborg University Hospital (Denmark).

A previous study showed that eating fish reduced the risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) because in fish with fat contained n-3 PUFA unsaturated fatty acids.

The study followed 57,053 Danish people, from 50 to 64 years old. These people fill in the detailed questionnaire about the amount of fish consumed daily.

Later, the scientists recorded data on the subjects coming to the hospital for medical examination and treatment related to atrial fibrillation. Within 13 years of follow-up, 3,425 subjects had atrial fibrillation.

The team found that people in the group who ate too much fish or too few fish daily had the highest risk of atrial fibrillation.
