Eating lots of walnuts reduces the risk of breast cancer

Scientists who have done experiments have shown that mice fed to develop cancer will significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer if they are fed with a handful of walnuts each day.

Elaine Hardman, one of the authors of the study, said that "when you need snacking, walnuts are a wiser choice than crackers or chips."

She also emphasized that a healthy diet can prevent most chronic diseases.

According to Hardman, walnuts contain a lot of proven ingredients that can slow cancer growth like omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and phytosterols.

The study also adds evidence that omega-3 fatty acids can provide many health benefits, from preventing heart disease to reducing the risk of cancer.

However, scientists have not yet confirmed whether fatty acids found in nuts and green leafy vegetables are similar to omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil.
