Last week, a group of icebergs appeared off the Dunedin coast, attracting the attention of tourists and the number of people coming here admired the skyrocketing. In this situation, the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority CAA must send backup personnel to Dunedin to monitor the situation.
However, the largest icebergs are still out of sight of tourists.
Earlier, pilot Andrew Reid from Christchurch discovered another giant iceberg on Saturday (November 18), about a kilometer long. Andrew Reid said this was an ice sheet so he had to respond very carefully so that the helicopter did not slip out.
A larger second glacier is drifting several kilometers north.
A source said, these icebergs were separated from the Antarctic ice shelf and in the past few days the glaciers have drifted about 15km to the north.
