Ensuring nuclear safety and security in Vietnam

In 2011, the Department of Nuclear Radiation Safety completed the installation of security systems at 22 facilities with high radioactive sources within the framework of US DOE BOA project on reducing the risk of insecurity of the source. radiation; coordinate with the General Department of Customs to prepare conditions for installing radioactive substance control gate at the arrival terminal of Noi Bai International Airport, which is expected to be inaugurated in February 2012.

The Department also collaborates with IAEA inspectors to conduct periodic inspections according to the Inspection Agreement, conduct a tally of nuclear materials, build a nuclear accounting report at the Da Lat Nuclear Research Institute and Institute of Public Works. The Department of Nuclear Radiation Safety also coordinates with the National Science and Technology Development Fund to advise on the implementation of 3 state-level seismic and geological projects; lead and coordinate with this Fund to build a State-level project 'Building a framework of legal documents on nuclear safety'.
