Excavation of ancient Egyptian tombs 2300 years old - at least 17 high-level mummies were found

The year 2017 was a bumper year for Egyptian archeology, when countless ancient tombs were found.

Recently, the Egyptian archaeological team unearthed an ancient burial site (necropolis) , with at least 17 mummies in Minya city in the Nile valley.

The tomb is located in the huge Tuna Al-Gabal ruins , at the western edge of the desert. This is an area containing thousands of animal mummies, along with ancient tombs and funeral homes.

"This is the first grave site found at Tuna al-Gabal" - quoted Security Minister Khaled al-Anani.

According to Khaled al-Anani, the mummies here are preserved very carefully, so it is likely to belong to high-ranking officials or ancient Egyptian priests. In addition, estimates here include up to 32 mummies, including women, children and babies.

The mummies are unclear, but are believed to belong to the Greek-Roman period in Egypt.

It is known that the grave site is about 8m deep, located 250km south of Cairo. In fact, this grave site was discovered by radar by Cairo students. The age of the mummies is still unclear, but it is estimated that falling into the Egyptian period belongs to Greece - Rome. Around this time fell 600 years after Alexander the Great invaded here in 332 BC.

This is quite good news for Egypt. The country hopes that recent archaeological findings will restore the interest of international visitors.

"2017 is a historic year for archeology. It is like a message from the ancestors in the past, when they give us the opportunity to pull the tourists back here " - Khaled Al-Anani announced .
