UK scientists have discovered a protein that can be used to make a more effective anti-tuberculosis vaccine than the one currently used.

GS. Ajit Lalvani at Imperial College London (UK) said that most people in the world are vaccinated with BCG to prevent tuberculosis, but still 9 million people suffer from it every year.

Therefore, the development of a new, more effective TB vaccine is an urgent need.

The research team at Imperial College London found a new protein called EspC. This protein responds to strong immunity and resistance to Mycobacterium tuberculosis effectively.

Therefore, EspC has the prospect of creating a new TB vaccine, which can stimulate the immune system wider and stronger than the BCG tuberculosis vaccine.
