Gray parrots also like opposing partners

The opposition is really attractive, at least in Australian gray parrots. When it was time to get married, these faithful birds chose a mate with a completely opposite personality.
Biologist Rebecca Fox of the University of California, USA, evaluated the character of 20 different gray parrots, including gentle, bold, easygoing, hot-tempered and selfish .
When these birds live together, different children begin to gather and flirt. Both male and female are active in this process.
By measuring the time the birds are together, Fox compares each bird's personality with potential mates. The results show that instead of finding companions with many things in common, parrots choose different objects.
Ecologist Denis Réale at the University of Quebec finds it interesting to see that the personality is important in the choice of parrots' partners, besides the mesmerizing performance, the color of the coat and the song.
