In a new study, scientists gave 98 students a rigorous job interview with entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs will assess each student in terms of general qualifications and recruitment ability. In addition, some other experts will judge students about the tightness of the handshake.

The results showed that the students with high scores on handshakes were also considered to be the most recruited.

"We still know that the interviewer can decide on a person within the first 2-3 minutes of the interview," said researcher Greg Steward at the University of Iowa, USA. "Now we find the first impression from the handshake that also determines the results for the entire interview."

According to Stewart, the handshake will give a glimpse of who you are .

"Job seekers are often trained in how to talk, how to dress and how to answer questions ., so we all look and act the same because we are taught the same thing. But shaking hands is something completely personal, so it conveys a message that costumes or looks cannot bring. "

Stewart also found that those who shake hands will score better with employers, because it also shows the ease of communication, straight look and other communication skills.

The standard handshake consists of a tight fist, eyes looking at the eyes, moving up and down strongly.

This may not be beneficial for women because they often hold hands tightly. But other research shows that women have an advantage in other non-verbal communication skills that will compensate for their loose handshake.

A similar study in 2000 also found that handshakeers were extroverted, willing to experiment, less mentally disturbed and less embarrassed than those with weak fists. Women who are liberal, intellectual and eager to learn often shake hands well and are more sympathetic than those who are reserved and shake hands less.
