Reported by Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in the newsletter issued on December 23, the basin water in the two rivers of Nhue and Day rivers, especially the Nhue River, is reduced due to receiving the city's wastewater Hanoi and Ha Tay streets.

In particular, wastewater discharged into the river is mainly from the city. Hanoi, accounting for more than half (54%). Waste water from Ha Tay only accounts for a little, 17%.

The VNA is the source of the Nhue River inspection results, reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to the Government in December 2006. At present, on Nhue and Day rivers, dense industrial parks and production facilities are concentrated. The number given is 8 industrial zones (IPs), industrial clusters (CCNs), with 157 projects, 266 large establishments, 358 craft villages.

In addition, these two rivers are also subject to many other sources of wastewater generated from residential areas, tourism, restaurants, medical facilities, industrial, small-scale industry, agriculture and delivery facilities. clearance .

All these emissions have not been collected. The total volume of wastewater discharged to Nhue and Day rivers is over 28,500 m3 / day. In it, more than 96% is industrial waste water. According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, there are only 11 facilities to discharge wastewater into the river, which is treated according to Vietnam standards.

The sad thing is, "Only half of the 8 IPs and ICs have been approved for environmental impact assessment reports. However, these IPs and ICs themselves have not followed the approved EIA reports. Only each Cau Giay medium and small industrial park is building a centralized wastewater treatment plant " - VNA said.

Currently the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is cooperating with People's Committees of provinces and cities in the basin to set a roadmap to overcome violations of the Law on Environmental Protection.
