He came closer to allowing the scientific community to use infant-generating techniques from the three people's DNA, after the House of Representatives voted.

CNN yesterday said the three methods of artificial insemination from DNA received 382 votes in favor of a total of 650 members of the British House of Representatives. The next voting activity will take place in the Senate. If approved, Britain will become the first country to allow genetic modification in human embryos.

"This is a bold move, but also a step that needs to be reviewed and announced," Health Minister Jane Ellison said.

According to scientists, artificial insemination from the DNA of three people can prevent genetic diseases. It involves the method of transforming eggs or embryos before giving them to the mother.

Last December, the government announced regulations regarding the use of the technique. Dr Sally Davie said they should be legalized to help women with severe mitochondrial genetics still have children without spreading the disorder to the next generation.

Defects in mitochondria can lead to diseases such as muscle atrophy, heart disease, liver failure and muscle weakness. In the UK, one in every 6,500 babies has serious mitochondrial disorders.

However, many argue that this method transcends the basic learning boundary, when embryonic changes will be passed on to future generations with unintended consequences. Accepting it can lead to the risk of creating "artificial children".
