Hearing the noise, the woman was shocked when she saw the scene before her eyes

A woman was shocked when she recorded the moment a snake entered her home and tried to swallow an egg whole .

Laura Neff, living in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, filmed the incident. In the clip, a snake crawls down the spice cabinet and towards the eggs.

Laura said: "A noise made us look up towards the spice cabinet. A snake was leaning towards the basket of eggs below."

According to Laura, this reptile was identified as a Rat Snake, also known as a Black Racer . This species is non-venomous and is in fact considered beneficial to homeowners because it feeds on small rodents.

The rat snake opened its mouth and sucked the egg.

She said the animal got inside the house through a hole in the laundry room floor. And she allowed it to finish the egg before trying to take it out of the house.

After letting the snake 'enjoy' the egg, Laura used two brooms to grab the snake and carry it out of the house.

"All's well and ends well," Laura said.
