Highway from hell

An underground highway running straight from "hell" could allow some volcanoes to erupt with tremendous speed.

When I turned, the volcanoes escaped the molten rock that accumulated inside the mantle, the layer between the Earth's crust and the core.

Ghosts are stuffed into tanks below volcanoes, until the pressure becomes too great, leading to volcanic eruption.

Previously, experts said that magma crept from the mantle upwards until it reached the reservoir, often located at a depth of several kilometers below the volcano, and so this process was supposed to be prolonged. over the years.

However, the new Nature study shows that there are roads running from the mantle through the Earth's crust and directly to the magma reservoir.

As a result, volcanoes can be "reloaded" within a few months, which is equivalent to the blink of an eye by the time of geology, and this is obviously terrible information for communities living near the volcano is sleeping.

The evidence of the existence of these "highways" appeared during the eruption around 1963 to 1965 at the Irazu (Costa Rica) volcano, according to AFP.

A team of experts led by Philipp Ruprecht of Columbia University (USA) discovered that magma is loaded from the mantle to the crust on the Earth's crust, a distance of 35 km, within a few months.
