History of dogs and American civilization

Researchers at the University of Illinois conducted research on fossils of ancient dogs in search of their origin and ancient American civilization.

People began migrating to America about 20,000 years ago. They don't bring dogs, according to the Washington Post.

Domestic dogs appeared in the Americas about 10,000 years ago, long after humans first arrived here, according to DNA analysis of fossils by University of Illinois researchers. Their research was published in Human Evolution magazine.

'If we can see when the dog has come to America, it will be very interesting , ' said study author Kelsey Witt. 'Maybe they go with people, but no one sees it with their own eyes'.

Dogs were widely domesticated in Asia and then brought to the Americas, Witt said.'What we know about ancient dogs is that before Europeans arrived, dogs were very popular throughout the Americas. They are used to carry things, keep houses, make sense for some religions, and also a food source '.

The researchers conducted fossil analyzes of 84 dogs, of which 34 were buried in Illinois dating from 1,000 to 1,400 years. They tested DNA, and the results show that the genetic diversity of these dogs is about 10,000 years old.

Dogs come to the Americas with European coyotes, and it is assumed that they mate with American wolves, Witt said. Dogs have been attached to human life for a long time, so their historical research means learning about our roots.
