Inaugurated the largest wind power plant in Southeast Asia

Wind power plant 1, with 20 wind turbines has just been opened in Binh Thuan province on April 18.

It is known that this is the first wind power plant in Vietnam to be put into operation, with the largest scale in Southeast Asia.

The factory started in 2008, located in Binh Thanh commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan, belonging to a wind power project invested by Vietnam Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company (REVN) about 2,000 billion VND. The project has completed phase 1 with 20 turbines with a total capacity of 30MW. Since the trial in September 2009, the project produces 85 million kWh of electricity each year and is connected to the national grid, while reducing emissions of 58,000 tons of CO2 per year.

According to Mr. Ho Son Hung, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade, REVN is currently preparing steps to start the second phase of the project with a capacity of about 90MW.

Up to now, Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee has approved 13 investors to register 16 wind power projects. In addition to the project in Tuy Phong, the national grid has been installed and the second phase is being prepared, the wind power project in Phu Quy island, with a capacity of 6MW, has installed 3 turbines and is completing and preparing the electricity generation. . Another project in Hoa Thang commune, Bac Binh district is also in the construction phase.

According to the Department of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Binh Thuan province has just completed the plan for wind power development in the period of 2010-2015, with a vision to 2020, the wind power potential of Binh Thuan province is more than 5,000MW.
