An official from Indonesia's Meteorological and Geological Agency said the first magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at 901 am (local time) with the center of Krui, Lampung province Sumatra island 152 km to the southeast.
Two hours later, another magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck northern Sumatra with the epicenter 68 km northwest of Gunung Sitoli.
