Investing US $ 3.5 million in Vietnam's protected areas

The Global Environment Facility (GFE) will donate $ 3.5 million to the Overcoming obstacle project to enhance the effectiveness of managing protected areas in Vietnam.

According to experts, Vietnam is one of the richest countries in terms of biodiversity. Since 2009, Vietnam has protected areas applied to all ecosystems such as the National Park, Nature Reserve, Wildlife Conservation Area and Natural Landscape Conservation Areas.

However, Vietnam is in a state of loss and degradation of natural ecosystems, mainly due to human impacts of expanding agricultural land into forest land. In coastal areas, people still destroy mangroves and sea dykes to grow rice and destroy forests for shrimp ponds, so many mangroves disappear.
