After four years of research, Lam Dong Center for Experimental Agriculture and Forestry has completed the research process, producing mulberry cordyceps fungus (Paeclomyces tenuipes or Cordyceps takaomontana).
The center is producing some products from the above fungi such as alcohol, capsules and tablets. This is a new signal in the production of precious medicinal herbs at the "mulberry capital" Bao Loc, Lam Dong.
Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus on insects that is used as a medicinal and nutritious food in traditional Chinese, Korean and Japanese medicine.
In the winter when the worm is in the ground, the parasitic fungus grows and absorbs the depth of the worm itself, causing it to die. Summer mushrooms sprout from the ground shape like grass, so called "cordyceps" , meaning winter is insects, summer is plants.
According to Dr. Nguyen Mau Tuan, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Center for Agricultural and Forestry Experimental Research, until now, there has not been any domestic research facility to successfully produce this precious medicinal herb.
Especially, this is the first time Vietnam has completed the complete process of producing cordyceps on silkworms, an insect that has been cultivated for a long time and with this process can produce mass production of this precious medicinal material right on Lam Dong land.
Cordyceps is available in three different types, including those available in nature, cultured by fermentation and artificial culture.
The first type collected in nature is very rare and very expensive (about 1 billion VND / kg). The second type is done in a laboratory with modern equipment. The third type of artificial culture in the natural environment follows a separate process that can mass produce.
Bao Loc is the " capital" of the southern mulberry production industry, with an average temperature of 23-25 degrees Celsius, so it is very convenient to use hosts - nymphs and mulberry broths to grow into fungi. mulberry.
Economic value from cordyceps is also thought to be many times higher than traditional mulberry cultivation.
In addition to the economic value, Cordyceps Cordyceps is also a medicinal product that helps to nourish the body, strengthen physical strength, reduce back pain, knee fatigue . should be used to produce energy drinks, soak medicinal alcohol .
Currently, Dr. Nguyen Mau Tuan has cooperated with Lam Dong Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies Company to test two types of capsules and cordyceps.
