A recent study shows that in the past two decades, the characteristic male testosterone levels in men tend to decrease.

Testosterons are male sex hormones, important in maintaining bones and muscles. The decrease in testosterone levels not only reduces the lobido instinct but also increases the risk of diabetes and obesity. The concentration of testosteron (in the blood) of men reaches the maximum in the ages of 20 to 30, then gradually decreases.

The reduction of ' characteristic for masculinity ' is related to environmental pollution. (Artwork: 60s)

Scientists at the New England Institute of Medicine in Watertown, Massachusetts (USA) have conducted a study to determine testosterone levels of people of the same age over time and detect a common phenomenon. The tendency to reduce this hormone level is expressed in almost all ages - the next generation always has lower levels of testosterone in the blood than the previous generation.

The analysis was conducted with randomly collected blood samples of 1,500 American men living in Boston for the past 17 years. In addition, to eliminate the testosterone content of a person often changes by day, by hour, people have taken blood at a certain time (in the morning, when the content of testosterone is highest) and taken in many days average split.

The results show that in the past 2 decades, in most ages, testosterone content decreased by 15% . Dr. Thomas G. Travisson, chairman of the project, said that ' This is an alarming trend that reflects negative factors over time that we have not had a way to handle '.

The cause of this ' masculine specificity ' reduction is unclear but certainly not due to the age or bad habits that people know (eg the effects of alcohol, tobacco or weight), so in Travisson's opinion, ' most likely related to environmental pollution. What affects the entire community must be noted '.

A similar study of female testosterone changes will be available for another project.
