Experts say that specific analysis of the carvings will provide accurate information about the tribes and the type of tools they use.
Archaeologist Gerardo Rivas, one of the study participants, said that the discovery of the stone carvings is the next evidence that the Narigua region in the Stone Age was home to many tribes. Mr. Rivas also mentioned other items found in this area such as dishes, stoves and arrowheads used for hunting.
According to some experts, the latest finding can be considered a continuation of the previous discovery in the state of Tamaulipas with 5,000 drawings in caves.
