Mysterious soul well in Argentina

Pozo de las Animas, also known as "Soul Well", is a spectacular pair of sinkholes located in the province of Mendoza in Argentina, along the provincial road 222 near the village of Los Molles.

Both sinkholes were created due to the collapse of the underground opening. This gap occurs due to the disintegration of gypsum deposited in groundwater.

These two pits are separated by a fragile crumbling wall that is predicted to break down in the walls to make the two holes merge into one.

The northern pit has a steep slope, one side of the pit is crumbling due to erosion and is very dangerous when approaching the belt.The hole has a width of about 300m, depth of 101m and a hole filled with water at about 21m.

The southern hole has a diameter of over 300m, but the viewpoint is not as impressive as the northern pit.This hole has a low slope and around the mouth there is a sparse vegetation cover.Inside the pit is a small blue lake.The water level and size of this lake are also gradually changing.

The names of these two sinking holes originate from an ancient folk legend.The story comes when an Indian group was pursued by a group of opponents until nightfall, the chase group could not see the Indian group anymore so they had to return home.The next morning, they returned to the old road to search for an enemy when they heard grievances and catastrophic calls coming from somewhere.They reached the place where a strange sound came out cautiously and stunned when they saw two large pits and enemy's body being engulfed in it, with their feet rising to the surface.

The story of two sinkholes is told from there and it is called "where the soul cries" .Today, two sinking holes become a sacred place of worship for the local people.
