New spiders are identical to fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld

A newly discovered species of spider in Queensland state has been named after fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld because of this famous legend.

According to APP, a spider researcher from the Queensland Museum helped identify five small jumping spiders about the size of a grain of rice.

This group includes a spider named after famous German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld . The museum's researcher Danilo Harms said the spider has a distinctive appearance reminiscent of the late fashion designer.

"Jotus karllagerfeldi is a black and white spider that if we look over it, we will think of Karl Lagerfeld and his signature image. The spider has big black eyes, making us associate. to his sunglasses and his black and white front legs reminiscent of Lagerfeld's white collar, " said Harms.

Barbara Baehr, another member of the team discovered the new spiders, said more than 70% of the spiders in Australia have not been classified.

About 3,500 species of spiders in this country have been classified, but scientists believe the final number will surpass 10,000 species.

Together with Harms and Baehr, there was Joseph Schubert from Monash University, all three discovered five new spider species, four of which came from Queensland and the other from New South Wales.

"Jumping spiders are one of the most beautiful spiders in Australia, but almost no one knows about their diversity and classification," Baehr said.

"These spiders quickly captured the hearts of the public and naturalists," Baehr said of the beauty of these tiny animals.
