New test methods help treat cancer accurately
US scientists have introduced a new test method capable of analyzing tumors at the gene level, accurately predicting 80% of the most effective remedies for each type of cancer.

The Duke University team in North Carolina conducted the test using a chip called Gene Chip from Affymetrix.
Hundreds of tumor samples from cancer patients - from ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and lung cancer to leukemia - have been analyzed by the chip. It tracks the activity of genes in tumor cells, with the goal of finding a molecule called "RNA messenger" in each cell, thereby predicting which drugs or chemotherapy methods are Most effective for treating tumors.
"With this new test, we think doctors can apply chemotherapy appropriate for each patient with the highest efficiency ," said Dr. Anil Potti, the lead researcher.
According to the researchers, they will begin testing new tests on breast cancer patients next year.
