Canadian researchers from McGill University have found a new test method that allows the detection of the best embryos in the test to transplant a single embryo to reduce the risk of multiple pregnancies.

According to the Quebec Institute of Statistics, thanks to the dissemination of in vitro fertilization, the number of multiple births has skyrocketed to 25% between 1989 and 2000. 1/3 of couples using this method have twins or triplets compared to 3% of other couples.

The new test method called ViaTestTM-E will be launched next year. Researchers analyzed amniotic fluid before embryo transplantation. Preliminary analysis shows that this test can help increase 70 to 80% success rate in embryo transfer.

For the past 18 months, about 1,000 cases have been done by Yale University amniotic fluid samples. An international study was conducted several months ago and discussions with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began in February.
