Studying the phenomenon and luminescence of organisms, including marine organisms, helps to apply in many areas of life. For example, to predict the processes of climate change that took place in the past; or to classify coral systems based on their ability to absorb ultraviolet (UV) rays and emit electromagnetic waves.

Especially in the field of medicine, through cell response to UV activation to detect and 'mark' abnormal changes of the body as for tumors .

In Vietnam, ' Research on some luminescent marine organisms under the activation of ultraviolet light in Nha Tran g bay ' by four scientific researchers in Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography is Nguyen Van Luc and Nguyen Tac. An, Nguyen Phi Uy Vu and Hoang Duc Luu have just been announced as the first research in this area.

The study of luminescent marine life has been conducted since 2004, through three field surveys of the waters around Hon Mun, Hon Tre, Hon Mieu, Ho Tam and collected islands, testing a total of 92 samples. Marine; including 57 living coral samples, 32 fish species living in coral reefs and 3 sea animals .

In Nha Trang Bay, concentrated in Hon Mun area, there are more than 350 types of corals, anemones and hundreds of species of fish living in coral reefs . But the collection and research of luminescence is only done in 92 types as mentioned above, according to the director of Nguyen Tac An Oceanography Institute:

'Gradually, the research can be done, but due to the ability to invest in research, it is only possible to do so at the beginning. Even choosing the type of marine life to conduct the experiment must see both the ability to live and meet the research needs to reduce to the lowest level of failure and cost '.

Scientists at the Institute of Oceanography have conducted research on 'Vietnamese style'. Mr. Nguyen Tac An said: ' The lamps we used are nothing more than the lights people use in the music venues today. Overseas, thanks to many modern and appropriate tools, so the same animal, but when they showed it, there was a lot of radiation, very beautiful image . '.

From the newly achieved results, the Institute of Oceanography continues to conduct more in-depth research on luminescent marine life in Nha Trang Bay to 'not only confirm the ability to access new technologies in the world. , but also become 'capital' for us to 'speak up', associate, cooperate, exchange with countries, laboratories around the world, access their technology '.
