The North-South High-Speed ​​Railway Project, or the North-South High-Speed ​​Railway Project , is one of the strategic projects of Vietnam Railways (VNR). The project was approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in the master plan for the development of Vietnam Railways until 2020 and allowed the investor, Transport Consulting, Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - TRICC, to prepare an investment report and select a consultant. Currently, both Japan and Korea are participating in the survey and research to prepare the investment report. The North-South high-speed railway is 1,508.6 km long, 221.4 km shorter than the North-South railway (1,730 km).

The entire line has 70 stations (including 50 passenger stations and 20 freight stations). Starting from Ngoc Hoi station (Hanoi) and ending at Thu Thiem station (HCMC), the investment capital for this project is up to 61.67 billion USD (equivalent to 1.4 million billion VND).
