The Museum of Natural History at Ulyanovsk University announced that its paleontologists discovered the incomplete skull fossils of a species of seaweed in the Kriushi village of Ulyanovsk region. Fossils date from 122 to 125 million years. They decided to call it the Leninia stellans - after the name of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, RIA Novosti reported.
Fisheries are a group of reptiles that once lived in the sea 65 to 251 million years ago.
"The length of the skull is greater than 100cm. It is quite similar to the dolphin's skull. This fish eats fish and mollusks," said Gleb Uspensky, head of the Natural History Museum of Ulyanovsk University. expression.
Fossils are being preserved at a museum in the Ulyanovsk region."Leninia" is the name of the genus (or breed) and "stellans" (talented and eminent) are the names of the species. If scientists find another lizard species that belongs to "Leninia" , it will carry a different name - Leninia smiling, for example.
"Every member of the research team unanimously chooses Leninia stellans. This is not an unusual decision. Many new scientific findings bear the names of celebrities," said Uspensky.
Fisheries is the name of a group of large reptile animals that live in marine environments. They are the ancestors of today's lizards and snakes, but are not considered dinosaurs. The ancient creature believed that fishermen had evolved from terrestrial reptiles and once launched a global diaphragm 65 to 251 million years ago.
In 2012, scientists at Yale and Harvard University in the United States called a prehistoric lizard by the name of US President Barack Obama. That same year, the name of the current president of the United States was also used to place a new parasite species in Kenya.
