The villagers in Mai Chau, Guangdong Province, China, found the python with an unusually bulging belly hiding in a pigsty on the afternoon of June 8. When people drag the animal out of the stable, it starts vomiting 5 chickens, according to Long Room.

In the video posted on Pear's page, the python opened its mouth wide, twisting its body to push the food out of its belly. It in turn vomited a total of 5 chickens. Shocked by the scene, the villagers surrounded the chickens released by pythons. The python rushed into the bush and was released back to the wild by police later.

Python is a first-class protected animal according to China's list of endangered species. The behavior of the python is seen as a defense. Max Nickerson reptile gallery manager at the Florida Museum of Natural History explains that swallowing causes pythons to become less flexible and vomit food to help them flee faster when attacked or stressed.
