Removing A83 gasoline is beneficial to the environment

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have agreed to submit to the Prime Minister the plan of not using this kind of gasoline on the market. According to the two ministries, the use of many types of gasoline on the market, including gasoline A83, will be an opportunity for commercial fraud. Stopping production will create a safer psychology for people.

Scientists say the A83 gasoline is no longer suitable for most of today's circulating vehicles, and releases more harmful gases than other types of gasoline.

The above plan is getting the approval of most experts in this field.

According to Dr. Hoang Manh Hung, Vietnam Chemical Society, this gasoline line has a low octane of 83%, only suitable for some vehicles using old technology in the army and boats in the south.

"With cars with new technology today, this type of gasoline is not suitable for the engine demand anymore," Hung said. "If you mix A83 into A92 or A95, it will reduce the octane number of the gasoline, the engine will quickly get hot, increase the wear and quickly lead to engine damage."

According to Mr. Hung, A83 gasoline contains a lot of sulfur and impurities, so when used, it will discharge much S0 2 causing environmental pollution.

Dr. Huynh Quyen, Director of the Research Center for Petrochemical Technology, Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University, also agreed to give up gasoline A83 on the market."Vehicles using this type of gasoline are very few, so the consumption of A83 gasoline is also very small. If A83 gasoline is left, it will lead to a situation of petrol quality fraud , " Quyen said.

Gasoline A83 is used for low compression ratio vehicles such as explosives, pumps and production vehicles according to the old technology of the 1990s. So, if the car is new, with a high compression ratio engine but unfortunately, having to use gasoline to be mixed will quickly damage.

According to Le Canh Hoa, former Deputy Director of Petroleum Additives, the price of A83 is 500 VND / liter cheaper than A92 and 1,000 VND / liter cheaper than A95, which will lead to the risk of gasoline mixing business. A83 enters A92 petrol and A95 petrol for profit.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Standardization and Quality Measurement carried out a petrol quality inspection for two months. As a result, of the 55 stores that were inspected unexpectedly, there were 11 stores mixing A83 gasoline into A92 gasoline.

Currently in Vietnam, there are two key petroleum enterprises still allowed to produce and circulate gasoline A83: Saigon Petroleum Company (Saigon Petro) and Vietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) with the output of over 400,000m. 3 gasoline A83 every year.
