On February 9, at Hanoi National University, Hanoi Historical Society organized the announcement of new research results on Thang Long Citadel relics at 18 Hoang Dieu after two years of research (2005-2006). .

Excavation results (2002-2004) have revealed the foundation population of many types of architectural monuments: the floor of the palace, the floor, the system of water wells, drainage culverts . together with a large and abundant amount of several million types of relics: pottery, metal, burial remains . dating back to 1,300 years (from the time of An Nam capital to Ly - Tran period) - Le - Nguyen), reflecting the long and unique history of Thang Long - Hanoi.

Vietnam Institute of Archeology proposed: Project of revising and studying the system of relics of Thang Long Citadel in 10 years (2005-2015). So far, the project has obtained 3 big results. The first is building Thang Long coordinate grid according to international standards with the help of Japanese experts (ie determining the standard of ground and direction of architectural vestiges) within 19,000 m 2. .

In addition, the site has been studied to initially identify five typical palace architecture relics of the Ly - Tran Dynasty (11-17th century), including: multi - space architecture in the north of Zone A (has been revealed) 10 spaces); an architectural complex in the south of A area (1,400 m 2 wide) with a very large scale with a three-row column architecture in the north has revealed five pavilions with a very wide interior (7.45 m); 13-storey house architecture; Large architecture in the north of Block B and architecture " hexagonal floor " (name temporarily called).

These architectural monuments are the scientific basis to affirm that this place is the center of ancient Thang Long Citadel. Most notably, the "hexagonal floor" architecture is speculated by Vietnamese experts as tea houses (where tea is served) and Japanese experts speculate that these are multi-storey towers.

Through research and adjustment of ceramic artifacts, chinaware and architectural materials, it can be confirmed that most of them are handicrafts (the personal belongings of the Imperial Palace) with a special five-finger dragon pattern. On the basis of dating of 5,000 artifacts, complete technical drawings and complete documents of 2,918 drawings . the project has given evidence that in many periods, Thang Long citadel always has relations and economic exchanges with the outside: China, West Asia (7-9 century period); China, Japan (Le Trung Hung period). These relics also show that the Ly - Tran palaces were decorated very nicely, beautifully and with unique ethnic cultural nuances, showing high technical level.

These archaeological results are a particularly precious scientific evidence that helps us have a proper attitude towards the legacy of his father, especially in the land of " Thang Long thousand years of wrestling ". The evidence of this department has filled the void in the archaeological treasure of the upper land of Shanghai - the previous Hanoi professor had very little evidence of the Le period, the traces of the Ly - Tran period were complete. all absent.
