Rinspeed Snap: The future of unmanned traffic
Swiss technology firm Rinspeed has released the Snap concept. This is a self-driving electric vehicle with the ability to separate the chassis and cabin.
Rinspeed is a famous Swiss equipment manufacturer. The company has just introduced the latest concept car called Rinspeed Snap .
Although not put into production, Snap is Rinspeed's concept of a fully self-driving electric vehicle.Like what we've seen before with concept models like GM Hy-wire or Faraday Future FFZero1.
Rinspeed combines the powertrain and chassis together, creating a "skateboarding" platform, separate from the body like a barrel.Snap cabins come in many different forms and can be exchanged seamlessly on the same chassis.
The use of multiple cabins on the same chassis brings significant benefits.First, the body can be customized to serve a variety of purposes, from making a taxi to a convenience store, or even a food truck. The concept version also shows that it can be used as a "warm room".
Second, Rinspeed Snap found that the chassis could be broken or become obsolete faster than the body, so splitting the two parts would allow for a more efficient upgrade of the vehicle in terms of cost.
There are many different types of cabins for each purpose.Besides, Rinspeed has partnered with Harman and Samsung to create a high-tech living room with screens and connectivity features.
This room features quantum dot LED technology for cars, as well as organic LED displays to display crisp, bright images, while also reducing energy consumption.LEDs that emit ultraviolet light are also used to kill bacteria and keep the cabin clean.
Snap is said to be an idea vehicle of the unmanned transport industry in the future. In addition to Rinspeed introducing a variety of furniture to choose from, partner Harman also offers intelligent voice control speaker systems, smart lock, live health monitoring and advanced network security software. The Snap is also equipped with 6 projectors to communicate with people outside the car.
Like other Rinspeed concept models, Snap will probably never be produced. However, other brands may be inspired by Rinspeed's ideas for development for future types.
