"An ash spray up to a height of 6.5km has just occurred at the Karymsky volcano early in the morning of August 6," the report of the local emergency agency said.
According to the agency, the column of smoke moves towards the east of the volcano, so it does not affect nearby residential areas.
However, a local aviation safety warning was issued because of concerns that dust particles could damage aircraft engine turbines.
